Publisher Description

This App is a simplistic playback client for TV and Radio streams served by Enigma2 based set-top-boxes (STB) using the OpenWebIF web service running on the STB. Just enter the IP-Address and the port number of your Enigma2-based TV receiver and start watching Live-TV-Streams or Recordings stored on the STB.

This App supports use of multiple Bouquets with TV and Radio services and multiple locations with recordings on the STB.
With the upper HUD (Swipe Down during playback) you can select the audio channel and activate subtitles.
The bottom HUD (Swipe Up during playback) enables zapping through LiveTV streams. During playback of recordings you can pause or use fast forward playback, which is limited because of using an HTTP connection for streaming.

Enigma2 is a Linux based Open Source operating system widely used in receivers for satellite or cable TV. The App does not require file sharing (like SMB, FTP, NFS) enabled on the box. It only uses OpenWebIF via HTTP to read the Bouquets with your favorite TV stations and their current EPG information. Same applies for showing all the recordings you made on the STB. HTTPS for accessing OpenWebIF is not yet supported. FTP is used to backup some App data.

This App is using VLCKit, licensed with its LGPLv2 license. VLC and VLCKit is a trademark of videolan.org.

Vu+ is a registered trademark of Vu+ and Ceru Company Ltd., Korea. This App is not affiliated or endorsed by Vu+ or Ceru Company Ltd. The Vu+ Logo and vuplus as part of the product name are used with kind permission of Vu+ and Ceru Company Ltd.

Special thanks to the www.vuplus-support.org forum and their members for the support and the testing efforts.

Version History - fixing timeout issue with transcoded streams
Some receivers take several seconds until they provide transcoded streams. When starting playback, the app ran into a timeout stopped playback and retried. Timeout duration is not longer and with each attempt it gets increased by 50%. This should be sufficient for most DVB receivers.
In case you use transcoded streams, you can enable "remote connection" in the settings, which will just increase the timeouts for communication. 1.4.4 06/10/2023 Hotfix for problems with remote connections 1.4.3 04/24/2023 - fixed an issue with PIcons not getting loaded from STBs with older versions of OpenWebIF
- fixed an issue with matching EPG-Data to some services
- fixed an issue with outdated EPG-Data not being updated
- fixed an issue with playback not starting correctly. In case Live-TV streams "end", playback window gets closed after a few retries

- new feature: "Clear Cache" in Settings: This will disconnect from the STB, clear all cached files (incl. PIcons) and then re-connect to the STB. Especially useful when PIcons are not shown correctly. Refreshing the cached data may take a few minutes.

I start to work on a major upgrade of the App with several new features. I am open for suggestions. Stay tuned! 1.4.2 04/16/2023 - fixed lagging EPG refresh
- iPad now supports split-view (but some buttons in Top HUD during playback are not active due to space limitations)
- iPad on AppleSilicon Mac now with resizable window size and real full screen
- fixed issue with showing EPG-Data of IP-TV services
- fixed further issues with PIcons not loaded correctly 1.4.1 01/15/2023 - Enabled use of SSL connections when retrieving data from your local set-top-box
- During playback of recordings: skip approx. 1 minute with swipe/tab gesture (forward and backward)
- During playback of recordings: bottom HUD allows to navigate using the playback head
- When playback of a live TV service starts, the App tries to switch to the audio track previously used for this service
- Option to stream IP-TV services through the STB or directly
- Updated version of VLCKit embedded.
- Improvements on stability 1.4.0 05/30/2022 - Updated VLCKit version used for playback
- direct playback of IP-TV Services 1.3.0 11/13/2020 - fixed issue with predefined Bouquets, which use a plus-character in Reference and Filename (on the STB)
- fixed issue with Services not shown in Bouquets in combination with some receivers
- fixed issue with Movie Locations disappearing after 5 minutes
- fixed issue with wrong PIcons shown with Movies not recorded on the STB or from Services no longer available
- improved parsing of Locations, where recordings are stored, and display of them
- ensure EPG refresh, when opening the App from background
- fixed a race condition, now the App can schedule more requests at the same time, loading the data should be faster now. 1.2.4 12/05/2019 - fixed playback of Recordings
- added decoding of EPG titles containing HTML entities
- fixed small GUI glitches 1.2.3 10/24/2019 Sorry for the delay. You took a long time until I was able to fix the recent issue with "malformed" Service References. I was not able to reproduce them with my setup. The problem showed up, when the Service list is not generated by a service scan but by using 3rd party plug-in lists. These often include IP-TV channels with "malformed" Service references. But finally with the support of my testers and users, who contacted me via vuplustv.com, I was able to fix the issue.

- fixed the crash caused by IP-TV services with "malformed" references.
- fixed a crash caused when trying to load PIcons from services, which are "hidden" but nevertheless are listed by the STB. The filter to ignore these services is improved
- improved visual appearance of dynamically loaded recording locations. These most often are created by Enigma 2 plugins on the STB, but they are not registered in the STB configuration. Now it is easier to navigate through the seasons and episodes of the TV series you recorded.
- added localization for Catalan (thanks to Eduard Quiros)
- playback is again full screen on iPad Pro with iPadOS 13
- fixed issue with invisible top HUD after iOS 13 update
- several further bugfixes and improvements. 1.2.1 10/18/2019 - Recording-View: iteratively add sub-directories not mentioned in locations on the STB
- added spanish localization
- updated VLCKit
- Debug Log includes VLCKit messages
- several bugfixes and enhancements 1.2 07/26/2019 - fixed GUI issue: some bouquets did not open correctly in portrait mode
- hide Home indicator during video playback
- fixed connection issue when using an URL instead of IP-Address
- improved PIcon loading (requires OpenWebIF Version 1.3.5 or later)
- added french localization (thanks to Cyrille)
- updated VLCKit 1.1 12/28/2018 1.0 08/21/2018
